Support technical sales and customer engagement for advanced laser technology, helping identify customer needs and grow global markets within a laser engineering business.
Job description
We are looking for someone who enjoys learning how technology is applied in the real world and is motivated by speaking with customers, solving problems, and uncovering new opportunities.
This is an opportunity for a graduate or early-career candidate to develop a career as part of a growing laser engineering business. You will gain exposure to a wide range of applications, industries, and international customers while working closely with experienced commercial and technical teams.
The role suits someone who is naturally inquisitive, enjoys meeting new people, and is confident exploring conversations beyond the initial enquiry. Rather than simply responding to requests, you will learn how to identify customer challenges, understand market dynamics, and recognise where new opportunities may exist.
You will work closely with marketing, engineering, and operations teams to support technical sales activity and grow global markets.
Responsibilities
Support and qualify inbound enquiries from customers and distributors
Build and maintain customer relationships
Maintain accurate CRM records and customer communication history
Learn about customer applications, technical requirements, and commercial challenges
Support the sales process from initial enquiry through to quotation and follow-up
Support preparation of quotations, proposals, and supporting technical documentation
Work closely with engineering, marketing, and operations teams to support customer requirements
Attend customer meetings, conferences, exhibitions, and demonstrations as required
Essential criteria
Must have the right to work full time in the UK
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Curious mindset with an interest in understanding customer needs and applications
Organised and capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities
Proactive, adaptable, and willing to learn
Strong attention to detail and administrative accuracy
Desirable criteria
Degree qualified, or working towards a degree, in engineering, physics, photonics, or a related technical discipline
Previous internship, placement, retail, hospitality, or customer-facing experience
Exposure to engineering, scientific, or manufacturing environments
Interest in lasers, photonics, optics, or scientific instrumentation
Experience attending conferences, exhibitions, or networking events
