Supports the design and delivery of digital infrastructure systems, including telecommunications, security, data networks, life safety, audio-visual and building control systems for buildings and critical infrastructure.

At Mott MacDonald, we believe that digital infrastructure has the power to transform how people live, work, travel, and connect. As technology becomes increasingly embedded within the built environment, the systems we design today will help create smarter, safer, more sustainable places for future generations.

As a Graduate Digital Infrastructure Engineer, you'll join a collaborative team of experts who are delivering innovative digital solutions across some of the world's most exciting and complex projects. Working within our Building Services team, you'll help shape the digital systems that underpin critical infrastructure, supporting buildings, transport networks, energy facilities, and essential services that communities rely on every day.

This is more than the beginning of your career. It's an opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects, learn from industry-leading professionals, and help create a more connected and resilient future.

The Opportunity

Digital infrastructure engineering sits at the intersection of technology, engineering, and the built environment. As digital transformation accelerates across industries, you'll play a key role in helping clients harness technology to improve performance, enhance safety, increase efficiency, and deliver better outcomes for people and communities.

Working in our Building Services team, you'll contribute to the design and delivery of intelligent infrastructure solutions. Through structured development, mentoring, and hands-on project experience, you'll build the technical, professional, and collaborative skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving industry.

What You'll Do

As a Graduate Digital Infrastructure Engineer, you'll support the design and delivery of a wide range of digital systems and technologies, including:

  • Telecommunication systems that enable reliable connectivity and communication.

  • Electronic physical security systems, including CCTV, access control, and intruder detection solutions.

  • Structured cabling systems that form the backbone of modern digital infrastructure.

  • Active data networks and IT systems that support efficient and secure operations.

  • Life safety systems, including fire detection, public address, voice alarm, and emergency voice communication systems.

  • Audio-visual solutions that enhance communication, collaboration, and user experience.

  • Building and industrial control systems that enable smarter, more efficient and sustainable operations.

You'll also

  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, technology specialists, and project teams to deliver integrated solutions.

  • Contribute to the development of innovative and sustainable infrastructure designs.

  • Participate in project meetings, design reviews, site visits, and stakeholder engagement activities.

  • Support technical analysis, calculations, specifications, and design documentation.

  • Develop an understanding of emerging digital technologies and their application within the built environment.

  • Help clients create safer, smarter, and more connected environments.

Why This Role Matters

Digital infrastructure is increasingly central to modern society. From improving public safety and supporting decarbonisation goals to enhancing operational efficiency and enabling intelligent buildings, the systems you help design will have a tangible impact on people's lives.

Your work will contribute to:

  • Creating smarter and more resilient infrastructure.

  • Supporting safe, secure, and connected environments.

  • Improving operational performance through digital innovation.

  • Helping organisations reduce environmental impact through intelligent systems.

  • Enabling communities to benefit from future-ready technology.
