Develop health, safety, environmental, and quality (SHEQ) expertise through a Level 3 apprenticeship while supporting compliance, audits, inspections, and workplace safety initiatives.
Equans is looking for an Apprentice SHEQ Officer to join our team in Wath upon Dearne, South Yorkshire on a 2 year fixed term basis. This is a full time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is apprentice wage and benefits package.
General Overview
To become a fully trained SHEQ Advisor commencing with the attainment of the Safety, Health and Environment Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship. The apprentice SHEQ will be office based and expected to travel by their own means within the employers operating area.
What will you deliver?
To work with the management and delivery teams of the organisation to advise on the statutory health, safety and environmental requirements as they affect the company’s operations.
Assist to develop, review and check on the implementation of safe systems of work, investigate accidents, analyse data and present findings to the management team.
Engage with all aspects of the organisation to support a culture that ensures that everyone is able to return home unharmed, every day.
Understand the moral reasons for good safety, health and environmental working practices, including how a SHE management system works and the range of standards a typical HSE professional would be involved with.
Learn about the statutory health, safety and environmental legislation and sources of associated guidance and information applicable to the working environment.
Understand appropriate methods for identifying, evaluating and controlling hazards relevant to the workplace.
Assist the Senior SHEQ Advisor in delivery of SHEQ project work, including the undertaking of site inspections/audits.
Ensure that standards and quality of work produced is in accordance with best practice and fit for purpose.

Who are we looking for?
Must be dependable and attend work/college without exception.
Minimum of 2 A-levels or equivalent qualification
Able to communicate effectively in both written and spoken communication
Enthusiastic and self-motivated
Able to work with a diverse range of people, both alone and as part of a team
Confident and able to challenge behaviour that is inconsistent with a positive SHE culture
Reliable, professional attitude and approach to work
Demonstrate an eye for detail and commitment to delivering excellent standards
Computer literate in MS Office
