This graduate role supports the commercial lifecycle of large-scale housing developments by assisting with project cost control, subcontractor procurement, and monthly financial forecasting.

Construo Recruitment are looking to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team based in Warrington.

This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate or early-career quantity surveyor looking to develop within a highly successful residential developer. Working alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors and Senior Quantity Surveyors, you will gain exposure to the full commercial lifecycle of large-scale housing developments from procurement through to final account.

The Role

Reporting into the commercial team, you will support the delivery of residential development projects, assisting with cost control, procurement, subcontractor management and financial reporting.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the preparation and analysis of subcontract tender packages

  • Supporting procurement activities and attending subcontractor meetings

  • Assisting with the production and administration of subcontract orders

  • Monitoring subcontractor performance and contractual compliance

  • Supporting monthly cost reporting, forecasting and budget management

  • Processing subcontractor applications and invoices

  • Assisting with valuations, variations, retentions and final accounts

  • Maintaining accurate commercial records and project documentation

  • Liaising with site teams and supporting project delivery requirements

  • Contributing to cost control and commercial performance across developments

Requirements

  • HNC, HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline

  • Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Good understanding of construction methods and materials

  • Knowledge of standard methods of measurement

  • Strong Microsoft Excel and IT skills

  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities

  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment

  • Commercial awareness and attention to detail

  • Motivated to develop a long-term career within quantity surveying

Desirable

  • Previous experience within a main contractor or residential developer environment

  • Knowledge of COINS or similar construction software

  • Working towards professional membership with CIOB, RICS or CIPS
