This entry-level heritage property restoration, commercial quantity surveying, and subcontractor procurement graduate scheme trains construction management graduates at Construo Recruitment's client to analyze engineering blueprints, compile cost-value reconciliations, and coordinate contract valuations.
Construo Recruitment are working with a highly respected specialist main contractor who delivers restoration and refurbishment projects on some of the UK's most prestigious heritage and listed buildings. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an Assistant QS / Project Manager to join their commercial team based in West Sussex.
This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate or early-career construction professional with a passion for historic buildings to develop their commercial and project management skills while working alongside experienced industry specialists.
The Role
Working closely with the commercial and project delivery teams, you will support the successful management of heritage construction projects from pre-construction through to completion.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting cost management and commercial reporting across multiple projects
Assisting with procurement, subcontractor management, valuations, variations and final accounts
Conducting site visits and attending client, consultant and subcontractor meetings
Reviewing drawings, specifications and project documentation
Assisting with estimates, budgets, payment applications and cost value reconciliations
Supporting project managers with day-to-day project delivery activities
Building strong relationships with clients, suppliers and project stakeholders
Requirements
Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a construction-related discipline
Strong numerical and analytical skills
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Passion for heritage, restoration and conservation projects
Positive, proactive and team-oriented approach
Desirable
Previous construction industry experience
Experience using Microsoft Project
Interest in working towards professional qualifications such as MRICS
