We are looking for a Graduate for our Building Specialists Vertical Transportation team, who has a flexible approach and an appetite to learn in a leading Engineering and Professional Advisory services consultancy. A little bit more about your role and the team…

We are seeking a Graduate Vertical Transportation (VT) Engineer to join our specialist VT consultancy team. You will support the planning, design, and delivery of lift and escalator systems on some of the UK’s most complex and high‑profile developments, working alongside experienced VT consultants from concept through to construction and handover.

VT is a core system that directly influences building efficiency, fire strategy, accessibility, passenger experience, and lifecycle performance. As a graduate, you will gain early exposure to real projects and clients, developing both technical and professional skills within a structured, supportive environment.

Day-to-day activities could include:

From the outset, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, supported by senior engineers and mentors.

Your role will include:

  • Assisting with vertical transportation strategies for new and existing buildings

  • Supporting traffic analysis and performance modelling for lift systems

  • Helping prepare technical reports, drawings, and specifications

  • Supporting coordination with architects, fire engineers, and building services teams

  • Learning to assess compliance with relevant standards and guidance

  • Gaining exposure to site inspections, condition surveys, and client meetings

  • Contributing to refurbishment, modernisation, and lifecycle planning studies

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate

We are looking for graduates who are curious, analytical, and keen to build specialist expertise.

Essential:

  • Candidates must complete the application form in full answering all specific questions. This requirement applies to all candidates, inclusive of their background. Successful completion of this stage is mandatory. Candidates who pass this initial stage, will then be required to complete an online skill enabler assessment. Both the application form and the skill enabler assessment are essential parts of the early career’s recruitment process.

  • You’ll have graduated or be working towards a relevant Degree in Engineering (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services, or similar)

  • You’ll have good numerical and analytical skills

  • You’ll have clear written and verbal communication skills

  • You’ll have an Interest in the built environment and complex building systems

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of lift, escalator, or people‑movement systems.

  • Awareness of UK building regulations or British / European Standards.

  • Interest in accessibility, fire safety, or sustainability.

  • Proficiency in Excel and technical report writing.

  • You'll be looking to start work in September 2026 

  • You’ll enjoy combining creativity with technical accuracy.

  • You’ll have a desire for the future of our built world

  • You’ll have an understanding of engineering or construction design processes 

  • You’ll be curious about new technologies and how these can be applied to solve real world problems

  • You’ll have an enthusiasm for creativity and a drive to solve problems

  • You’ll want to inspire us, sharing new ideas you have
