Job Purpose​

The Graduate Cyber Security Consultant will support customer delivery while developing practical experience across cyber governance, risk, assurance, advisory and operational resilience. Under the guidance of experienced consultants, the role will focus on research, evidence gathering, analysis, documentation, report preparation and workshop support. 

The role will primarily support customers in Northern Ireland, while contributing to wider consultancy engagements across Ireland and the UK when required. Previous consultancy experience is not required.

Key Responsibilities​

  • Support customer engagements through research, evidence gathering, analysis and accurate documentation. 

  • ​Assist with evidence requests, control mapping, interview notes, action tracking and engagement administration. 

  • ​Research cyber security frameworks, standards, regulatory requirements, threats and recognised good practice. 

  • ​Help prepare reports, presentations, risk registers, findings, recommendations and other customer deliverables. 

  • ​Support workshops, interviews, assessments, cyber exercises and follow-up activities. 

  • ​Learn and apply Viatel methodologies, templates, tools and quality standards. 

  • ​Contribute to internal knowledge sharing, service development and pre-sales research. ​

  • Complete an agreed training and professional development plan.

Required Skills and Experience​

  • A recent degree or equivalent qualification in cyber security, computing, IT, engineering, risk, audit, business or related discipline. 

  • ​Foundational understanding of cyber threats, risks, controls and information security principles. 

  • ​Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to organise information and draw clear conclusions. 

  • ​Good written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce accurate documents and presentations. 

  • ​Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and confidence using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. ​

  • A genuine interest in developing a customer-facing career in cyber security consultancy.​

Desirable Skills and Experience​

  • Placement, internship, university project, service desk, SOC, audit, compliance or other relevant experience. 

  • Awareness of frameworks and standards such as ISO/IEC 27001, NIST CSF, CIS Controls and the NCSC Cyber Assessment Framework. 

  • Awareness of the UK NIS Regulations, Cyber Essentials, GDPR or wider cyber security regulatory requirements.

  • Awareness of NIS2, DORA, Irish NCSC guidance or the Cyber Fundamentals Framework, or CyFun, would be advantageous when supporting colleagues and customers in the Republic of Ireland.

  • ​University projects, labs, capture-the-flag activity, volunteering or other demonstrable interest in cyber security. ​

  • Basic knowledge of cloud services, networking, operating systems, identity and access management, scripting, data analysis or security tooling.

Certifications (Desirable)​

  • ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC)

  • CompTIA Security+ or Network+

  • ISO/IEC 27001 Foundation or equivalent​

  • Microsoft, AWS or other relevant cloud fundamentals certification

Additional Requirements​

  • Applicants must have the right to work in the United Kingdom. 

  • ​The role requires regular attendance at the Belfast office and travel to customer locations across Northern Ireland as required. ​

  • Occasional travel to Dublin, Glasgow and other customer or Viatel locations may be required.​
