Graduate Office Assistant

The Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Division are looking to appoint a full-time Graduate Office Assistant (GOA) to support graduate student administration for the Division. The post will provide an excellent opportunity to gain experience of graduate student administration and to develop a career in university administration in one of the UK’s leading universities.

 

The successful applicant will be part of the division’s Graduate Studies team, reporting to the Graduate Studies Manager, and will assist the Graduate Studies Assistant (GSA) with the day-to-day administration of all graduate studies on-course student administration for the MPLS Division, and maintaining graduate student records on the University’s student system.

The GOA will also provide support to all the MPLS departments for on-course processes, relating to graduate students studying on taught postgraduate courses and doctoral programmes. The postholder’s work will provide experience of working with policies, procedures and University regulations and working with databases. Liaison with academic departments, and with other parts of the central University administration is an important part of the job. 

We are looking for someone with good organisational skills who has excellent attention to detail, as well as good interpersonal and communication skills to support and advice students and administrative and academic colleagues from a range of backgrounds.

The post holder will be required to work independently and occasionally remotely without close supervision. The team currently works on a hybrid basis and has a policy whereby everyone must be in the office a minimum of two days a week, with Tuesday being a fixed team day.

 

The post is offered at Grade 4 on the University salary scale, with a salary range of £28,437 - £32,108.
