A Graduate Electrical Engineer role in Manchester focused on supporting power systems and electricity network projects, helping integrate low-carbon and renewable technologies through technical analysis, design support, and network planning under structured training and mentorship.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a self-motivated and talented graduate electrical engineer to join our Team of professional electrical engineers located in Manchester. You will have a passion for engineering with a keen interest in power systems, low carbon technologies and renewable generation.
You will be based at our modern office location in Manchester City Centre. There will also be opportunity for flexible home working on occasions. In addition, there will be opportunity to visit our clients and sites throughout the UK for particular projects.
You will be supporting our engineers to develop and deliver value added solutions that help our clients to improve the performance of their electricity networks as well as enabling the connection of modern low carbon technologies.
The role will also involve providing engineering support to our consultants on a range of diverse and exciting projects in a supportive environment.
You will have the opportunity to develop your skills as a young engineer across various disciplines and projects from our talented and friendly team of professional engineers.
About You
You will:
have recently obtained or be predicted to obtain a BEng (Hons) or MEng (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (2:1 or better). Similar BSc/MSc (Hons) will be considered
be self-motivated and enthusiastic
be a friendly and approachable individual, who can work well in a team or on their own initiative
have a keen interest in power engineering and have a desire to work in the field of electrical distribution networks, facilitating the connection of low carbon technologies to public electricity systems. This will include carrying out power quality assessments of low carbon technologies, conducting network planning studies, specifying power system assets, supporting the development of innovative solutions that will help to achieve net zero electricity networks
be IT literate and be confident in using various types of software applications
have excellent written and spoken English language skills
preferably hold a full UK driving licence
have the right to work in the UK (please note, we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role)

a starting salary of £29,000 per annum (with progression to £33,000 per annum after successful completion of training)

Your first year will involve following a structured training plan and shadowing various engineers in our Team working across different aspects of electricity networks. Your second year will be focused on developing your competence in your chosen technical fields all under a designated mentor.
The role will provide the right candidate with the opportunity to make a real impact, to develop themselves and work supportively within our close professional team to become an expert in their chosen field and to achieve Chartered Engineer status.
