This role focuses on designing and improving manufacturing processes and product build quality through 3D modeling, root cause analysis, and the development of jigs and fixtures in a heavy machinery production environment.

Join our team at Terex and embark on an exciting opportunity as we seek a skilled and dedicated Apprentice Manufacturing Engineer to contribute to the Ballymoney team.

Reporting to the Business Improvement Manager the successful candidate will quickly progress to play a key role in the Design of current and new product processes.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with the engineering team to create solutions to a variety of issues

  • Use latest 3D software to produce designs and drawings for solutions

  • Work with other functional departments such as Manufacturing, Production, Quality and Service to improve machine build and service life

  • To resolve problems at the root cause quickly and effectively and assist in managing engineering change processes relating to screens

  • Assist in producing full manufacturing drawings and engineering bill of materials

  • Improve manufacturing process through improved design and consultation with the production department, purchasing and suppliers

  • Follow Group standards in the areas of QFD, FMEA, design-for-manufacture, prototype development and field testing

  • Develop Jigs and Fixtures to promote continuous improvement

  • Follow Group engineering standards and associated IT systems

Ideally Candidates will be:

  • Due to graduate or have recently graduated with a minimum 2:2 degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent, or be enrolled in a Degree Apprenticeship Engineering course

  • IT literate

  • A self starting approach to work

  • A desire for putting theoretical knowledge to practical use

  • Goal and results orientated

  • Previous exposure to AutoCAD, 3D modelling, advanced excel skills, will be beneficial but not essential.
