Experience Required

Who we're looking for

  • Degree-level qualification in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or a closely related discipline – Essential.

  • A genuine interest in electrical/electronic design and engineering.

  • Understanding of basic analogue and digital electronic design principles.

  • Understanding of electrical schematics and engineering drawings.

  • Some experience with PCB design software – Desirable.

  • Knowledge of microcontrollers – Desirable.

  • Understanding of test equipment, automation or control systems – Desirable.

  • Practical engineering experience gained through university projects, industrial placements, internships or personal projects – Desirable.

  • Previous experience of working within Aerospace, Defence, Oil & Gas, Automotive or a similar industry – Desirable.

Previous professional experience in an electrical design role is not essential. We welcome applications from recent graduates who can demonstrate relevant knowledge, practical project experience and a genuine interest in developing a career in electrical design engineering. Candidates must possess all requirements for successfully meeting formal UK Security Clearance (SC) criteria.

Responsibilities

As our Graduate Electrical Design Engineer, you will have the opportunity to develop your engineering skills by working alongside experienced engineers on bespoke test, measurement and control solutions. You will support the engineering team in taking customer requirements and developing practical electrical and electronic solutions that can be manufactured within time and cost constraints.

This will involve the use of commercial off-the-shelf components as well as custom-designed interfaces. As you develop within the role, you will gain experience in the creation of electronic and electrical schematics, layouts, PCB designs, general assemblies and fault finding, helping our manufacturing team bring designs to life.

This important role will provide an opportunity to work on a wide range of bespoke engineering projects while developing your technical knowledge and experience in a supportive, multidisciplinary environment.

Role responsibilities

  • Support the design and development of electrical and electronic assemblies from requirements through to delivery.

  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of engineering documentation, including schematics, Bills of Materials and wiring schedules.

  • Support the production of PCB and electrical designs using appropriate design software.

  • Assist with system testing, fault finding and troubleshooting.

  • Work alongside experienced engineers to develop practical, robust and manufacturable designs.

  • Contribute to engineering projects and other duties as required by the Company, which may include working at other offices and customer sites.

  • Develop an understanding of customer requirements, project timescales and engineering constraints.
