Graduate Mechanical Engineer role supporting the design of sustainable building services, including HVAC, energy systems, and mechanical engineering solutions for a range of building projects.

The Opportunity

Join our 2027 Graduate Programme as a Graduate Mechanical Engineer in our Edinburgh office, where you'll be part of a market-leading Buildings discipline.

As a Stantec Graduate, you'll be part of a team specialising in building services, energy and sustainability, working on projects from an early stage to help shape efficient, sustainable and high-performing buildings.

Through collaboration with multidisciplinary design teams, you'll support the development of innovative solutions that help clients make informed decisions and deliver successful outcomes.

You'll develop your expertise within an exciting and creative interdisciplinary environment, working alongside experienced professionals and a wider graduate cohort. With strong support from technical specialists, colleagues and senior leaders, you'll benefit from structured development, mentorship and learning opportunities within Stantec's open and collaborative culture.

About The Role

As a Graduate Mechanical Engineer, you'll be...

  • Working on live projects from the start in a variety of sectors from healthcare to education

  • Mechanical services design and calculations

  • Working with supervisors on scheme design concepts

  • Using Revit and 3D BIM modelling software in design production

  • Design co-ordination with other professional disciplines

  • Producing detailed designs and drawings

  • Input into or development of energy and sustainability strategy and dynamic thermal modelling

  • Participating in design team and client meetings

  • Undertaking site visits or surveys

  • Researching and implementing new technologies

  • Continuous CPD and learning opportunities

  • Your typical work might include Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Control Systems, above ground drainage systems and hot and cold-water services.

Working across a range of projects, you will support the design and delivery of safe, efficient and future-ready buildings, helping clients reduce environmental impact, enhance building performance and create spaces that improve the wellbeing of those who use them.

Your work will contribute to sustainable development goals, support the efficient use of resources, and help deliver innovative solutions that meet the needs of both clients and local communities.

About You
