Graduate Environmental Water Quality Consultant supporting water-quality projects through environmental data analysis, fieldwork, modelling, monitoring and technical reporting to improve rivers, coastal waters and catchments.

The Opportunity

Join our 2027 Graduate Programme as a Graduate Environmental Water Quality Consultant in our Bristol office, where you will support our Water Environment discipline and contribute to projects that protect and improve rivers, seas and wider water environments.

As a Stantec graduate, you will collaborate with your team and wider graduate cohort, developing your professional skills and expertise within an exciting and creative interdisciplinary environment. We offer a supportive environment for your personal and professional development through our graduate programme, technical training and opportunities to work with leading specialists across the UK.

Stantec’s market-leading Technical and Environmental Services group in the Water sector supports water companies, regulators and research bodies across the UK, with occasional international work and collaboration across wider sectors including energy and infrastructure. You will join our Environmental Water Quality team, contributing to high-quality projects and applying your knowledge, initiative and analytical skills to real-world environmental challenges.

You will work on projects that assess pressures and impacts on the water environment, helping clients understand how to improve river and coastal water quality, manage catchments more effectively and develop evidence-led solutions.

This may include assessing water company discharges, supporting integrated catchment management, promoting nature-based solutions and helping to deliver sustainable improvements for sensitive habitats and communities.

About The Role

By joining our Environmental Water Quality team, you will support predominantly water-sector projects and develop skills in water quality assessment, environmental evidence gathering, numerical analysis and technical reporting.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Managing, analysing and visualising environmental and water quality data.

  • Supporting fieldwork and environmental monitoring activities where required.

  • Undertaking numerical analysis and modelling to help understand water quality pressures and impacts.

  • Preparing presentations, technical reports and evidence-led outputs for clients and project teams.

  • Applying source-pathway-receptor thinking to support integrated catchment management and investment planning.

  • Developing your understanding of environmental chemistry, wastewater collection and treatment, nature-based solutions, river and coastal modelling, climate change assessments and catchment management.

We are committed to supporting employees in achieving relevant professional qualifications and accreditation.

This role will support your professional development towards CIWEM.

Your Impact

This role will help deliver better outcomes for communities and the environment by supporting evidence-led decisions that improve river and coastal water quality, reduce environmental pressures and inform sustainable catchment management. Your work will help clients respond to emerging challenges facing the quality of rivers and seas, while developing practical, resilient and environmentally responsible solutions.
