Graduate Electrical Engineer role supporting the design and delivery of high-voltage transmission, distribution, and grid connection projects that enable the UK's transition to net-zero energy.
The Opportunity
Join our 2027 Graduate Programme as a Graduate Electrical Engineer in our Newcastle office, where you will be part of our market-leading Transmission & Distribution (T&D) team within Energy & Resources.
About The Role
As aGraduate Electrical Engineer, you will balance technical learning with practical project delivery to support major grid connection, power transmission, and distribution projects across the UK. You will sit within a dedicated engineering group, collaborating closely with cross-discipline specialists across Stantec’s UK offices to deliver high-voltage infrastructure and net-zero energy solutions.
Your core responsibilities will include:
Undertaking outline and detailed electrical engineering designs, including power system calculations, cable sizing, and protection system assessments.
Assisting with technical feasibility studies, capacity assessments, and grid connection reviews for clean energy infrastructure.
Coordinating electrical designs with associated civil, structural, mechanical, and digital engineering teams.
Preparing high-quality technical reports, single line diagrams (SLDs), specifications, and client-facing documentation.
Supporting project managers with workload organisation, progress tracking, and quality self-checking across project deliverables.
Communicating effectively with internal teams, network operators, and clients to support seamless project delivery.

The applicable professional qualification for this role is Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) or Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) .
Your Impact
In this role, you will be directly involved in shaping the future of the UK’s energy grid and enabling the transition to net-zero power. Supporting critical Transmission & Distribution projects—connecting renewable energy generation, modernising power networks, and reinforcing grid stability—your electrical calculations and engineering designs will directly strengthen national energy security.
Working alongside industry experts, your daily efforts will deliver resilient, sustainable infrastructure that leaves a positive, lasting legacy for communities.
About You
At Stantec, we value your potential over past experience. Along with an accredited degree ( BEng/ MEng in Electrical Engineering or a closely related power systems discipline), and a keen interest in the energy transition.
