Graduate Geologist role at SLR supporting mining and resource projects through geological fieldwork, drilling supervision, sampling, core logging, and technical analysis within an international consultancy.

SLR have an exceptional career opportunity for an aspiring Geologist to join our distinguished Mining Advisory team, spanning Ireland and the UK. This position holds significant importance in our commitment to expanding our service offerings to a broad spectrum of mining clients, both domestically and internationally. 

As part of our closely-knit team, we will help you develop your skills to provide day-to-day guidance, oversight, and assistance, as well as undertaking more complex analysis, on a variety of interesting projects.  

This position will be based from our Dublin office. 

The Role

With support from senior colleagues, initial duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Supervision of mineral resource drilling programmes and geological core logging

  • Planning procurement and management of ground investigations and preparation of factual and interpretative reports

  • Undertaking routine quarry inspections, aggregate sampling and sample management

  • Generating and manging geological / geotechnical databases;

  • Petrographic analyses, thin section microscopy, and preparation of technical reports

  • Sample management and logistics logistics

  • Reviewing, interpreting and reporting the results of routine aggregate analysis; and

  • Preparing geological Conceptual Site Models.

About you 

We are looking for a hard-working team player with a degree in geological science and a desire to build a career in the mining and resource extraction sector. 

You will also have: 

  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written  

  • Strong project co-ordination skills  

  • Computer literate with experience using Microsoft Office products 

  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment but also to demonstrate independence in completing work tasks 

  • Willingness to learn how to use modelling packages 

Due to site-based travel requirements, a full driving licence is essential for this position.
