Graduate Scientist role supporting LC-MS/MS bioanalysis, DMPK, ADME and biotransformation studies through laboratory analysis, method development, data interpretation, and scientific reporting.

Pharmaron is a global CRO helping pharma and biotech companies bring new therapies to life. With over 25,000 employees worldwide across 23 locations in the US, UK and China, we support drug discovery through to manufacturing with fully integrated, high-quality services.

We are currently seeking a Scientist to join our growing Discovery Bioanalysis and Biotransformation team in Hoddesdon. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious early-career scientist looking to build expertise in LC-MS/MS bioanalysis within a dynamic drug discovery environment.

The role would suit a recent graduate who has ideally completed an industrial placement, a candidate with postgraduate research experience involving LC-MS, or someone with up to a few years of industry experience in bioanalysis, DMPK, ADME or a related analytical laboratory setting.

Working as part of a collaborative and highly experienced team, you will gain exposure to a broad range of discovery-stage studies, supporting bioanalysis, DMPK and biotransformation projects for pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients worldwide.

Unlike larger organisations where these activities may sit across multiple specialist departments, this role offers the opportunity to gain experience across several scientific disciplines, helping accelerate your technical development and career progression.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Perform LC-MS/MS-based bioanalysis to support discovery bioanalysis, DMPK and biotransformation studies.

  • Prepare and analyse samples generated from in vitro and in vivo studies.

  • Support the development, optimisation and qualification of analytical methods for small molecules, peptides and related compounds.

  • Generate, review and interpret analytical data, ensuring high levels of accuracy and data quality.

  • Support fast-paced project delivery through effective laboratory planning and execution.

  • Contribute to troubleshooting analytical challenges under the guidance of senior team members.

  • Collaborate with scientists across Discovery DMPK

  • Maintain accurate experimental records and contribute to scientific reporting.

  • Follow laboratory procedures, safety requirements and quality standards.

  • Continue developing technical expertise through practical experience, training and mentorship within the team.

Essential Requirements:

  • BSc or MSc in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Biological Sciences or another relevant scientific discipline.

  • Industrial placement experience, postgraduate research experience, or up to approximately 3 years of relevant laboratory experience.

  • Exposure to analytical chemistry equipment inclduing LC-MS or LC-MS/MS through industry, academic research or industrial placement projects.

  • Strong practical laboratory skills and an interest in analytical science and drug discovery.

  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality scientific data.

  • Good organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team whilst also taking ownership of individual tasks.

  • Enthusiastic, proactive and keen to develop new technical skills.

Desirable experience:

While not essential, experience in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous:

  • Discovery bioanalysis, DMPK, ADME or biotransformation studies.

  • Operation of LC-MS/MS instrumentation, including triple quadrupole systems and/or QTOFs.

  • Sample preparation and extraction techniques for biological matrices.

  • Data analysis software associated with LC-MS platforms (e.g. Analyst, Sciex OS, MultiQuant).

  • Pharmacokinetic concepts and interpretation of PK data.

  • Experience working within a CRO, pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment.

  • Exposure to high-throughput laboratory workflows.

  • Python, R or other data analysis tools for scientific applications.
