You'll play a key role in supporting the delivery of OCU's Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) standards across a diverse range of operational and project environments. Based in Borehamwood, you'll work as part of our SHEQ team, helping to ensure that our people, projects and processes operate safely, responsibly and in compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards and company policies.

You'll gain exposure to a wide variety of SHEQ activities, working closely with operational teams, project managers, supervisors and business stakeholders to promote a positive safety culture and drive continuous improvement across the organisation. You'll help identify areas for improvement, support corrective actions and contribute to initiatives that enhance safety performance, environmental sustainability and quality outcomes. You'll also gain valuable experience in understanding relevant legislation, industry regulations and best practice standards across the sectors in which OCU operates.

The role will involve regular travel to operational and project sites, providing valuable hands-on experience and exposure to a variety of working environments. As your skills and confidence grow, you'll take on increasing responsibility, develop strong stakeholder management and communication skills, and become an important contributor to creating safe, sustainable and high-quality outcomes across the business.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, influencing positive behaviours and helping to improve processes and standards. You'll be keen to develop your knowledge of SHEQ legislation, management systems and industry best practices while working closely with operational teams, managers and site-based colleagues.

You'll enjoy balancing time in the office with visits to operational sites, gaining practical experience and developing the confidence to support teams in delivering safe, compliant and high-quality projects. Your work will help protect people, support sustainable operations and contribute to OCU's commitment to operational excellence.

You'll need (or be on track to achieve) a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Quality Management, Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline with a minimum 2:2 classification.

Due to travel and support across various operational and project sites, a full UK driving licence is essential before starting the role.

An interest in health and safety, environmental management, quality systems or compliance through academic projects, placements or part-time employment would be advantageous.
