Graduate Civil CAD Technician role focused on producing 2D/3D technical drawings, site layouts and construction documentation for physical security infrastructure such as perimeter fencing, gates, foundations and associated civil works.
The Graduate Civil CAD Technician will support the design and delivery of physical security infrastructure projects by producing accurate technical drawings, site layouts, and construction documentation. Working alongside engineers, project managers, and security specialists, the role involves developing civil engineering designs for security installations such as perimeter fencing, gates and associated civil works.
This position provides an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to develop technical expertise in civil engineering design while gaining experience in the security and critical infrastructure sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Design & CAD Production
Produce high-quality 2D and 3D technical drawings using AutoCAD and other design software.
Prepare site layouts, general arrangement drawings, construction details, and as-built documentation.
Assist in the design of civil works associated with security systems, including:
Perimeter fencing
Security gate foundations and associated drainage
Revise and update drawings to incorporate design changes and client feedback.
Ensure all drawings comply with company standards and project requirements.
Project Delivery
Maintain accurate design records and project documentation.
Support the development of construction packages and tender documentation.
Assist project teams in resolving technical queries during construction.
Participate in project meetings and design reviews.
Quality, Health & Safety
Follow company quality management procedures and document control processes.
Support compliance with relevant health and safety regulations and design risk assessments.
Ensure designs align with applicable UK standards, client specifications, and industry best practices.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
Degree, HND, or HNC in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline.
Strong understanding of civil engineering principles and design processes.
Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
Full UK Drivers licence
Desirable Qualifications
Experience using AutoCAD
Knowledge of BIM processes and software.
Understanding of security infrastructure or construction projects.
