Operating within BGEN (part of M Group Water), this early-career engineering role focuses on creating, reviewing, and verifying low-voltage (LV) electrical designs, industrial power systems, and control assemblies.

Where will you be working?
At M Group Water we help our clients safeguard the water supply, improve environmental performance and manage demand for future generations. We enhance and extend asset life, ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental standards. We’re problem solvers with over 140 years of combined experience in engineering and infrastructure.
This role will join BGEN - one of the UK's largest multidisciplinary design and build contractors with over 100 years of industry experience. We support clients in the water, power & energy, pharmaceutical, nuclear and food and beverage industries to deliver next generation, value-added engineering solutions
What will you be doing?
You will monitor projects to keep them on time and on budget, updating commercial files, progress reports, and highlighting risks. You will create and review electrical designs that meet client requirements, standards, and best practice, and carry out technical checks within the LV Engineering team.
Working collaboratively, you will help develop shared tools and standards, communicate updates, and support compliance through reviews and audits. You will take part in site surveys, reporting on LV Assemblies, and assist with estimates, proposals, and tenders.
You will raise any major commercial or technical risks, contribute actively in engineering and planning meetings, and help strengthen relationships across the business. You will bring strong technical understanding, clear communication, and a positive, solutions‑focused mindset, staying organised, commercially aware, and adaptable while supporting high‑quality engineering delivery.
What you'll bring:
Academic foundations: GCSEs (C or above), ONC in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, and working toward HNC/HND.
Practical experience: Some hands‑on work with Power Switchgear and Controlgear Assemblies
Technical knowledge: Industrial power and control systems, BS EN 61439‑2, BS EN 60947, BS 7671, protection selectivity, cable sizing, motor control, PLCs, communication networks, earthing, and product conformity requirements.
Project and quality awareness: Understanding of project management best practice and ISO9001.
Software skills: Confident using AutoCAD or MicroStation/Promis.e and Microsoft 365.
Communication strengths: Able to communicate, influence, and negotiate effectively.
Competency level: Level 3 working toward Level 4.
