The Software Engineering Graduate will collaborate with senior engineers to gather requirements, develop software applications, automate testing and deployment, and support system integration. The role provides structured training, mentorship, and hands-on experience in modern software engineering practices, including Agile, DevSecOps, and cloud technologies.

About the Role

Lockheed Martin UK are hiring Software Engineering Graduates to join teams in our Gloucester office. You will be trained to build critical solutions in cutting-edge technologies, working under general direction and support from your Software Engineering Lead.

Duties include:

  • Working alongside senior engineers in discussions with customers to elicit requirements, converting operational needs into technical specifications.

  • Designing and implementing software solutions based on requirements to meet defined Acceptance Criteria.

  • Writing clean, maintainable code, applying best practice, and reviewing others’ code.

  • Championing automation in the form of IaC, CI/CD and test automation.

  • Supporting Integration & Test teams during formal test phases.

  • Performing technical investigations of problems raised against operational systems.

Required skills, qualifications and experience

  • Degree in a STEM subject, preferably Computer Science or Software Engineering.

  • A good understanding of OOP and experience with one or more of the following: Java, Python, C++, JavaScript, TypeScript, React.

  • Knowledge of databases such as PostgreSQL or MongoDB.

  • An awareness of Agile, Cloud, DevSecOps or GitLab is a plus.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Ability to work well in a team environment.

  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage own time to meet project needs.
