About Learning Cog

Learning Cog is a leadership, management and sales training and development consultancy. We work closely with organisations to create practical learning solutions that improve individual, team and business performance.

The Role

  • Write clean, readable and maintainable code appropriate to the task

  • Use GitHub and GitHub Projects to manage assigned work, update progress and raise blockers

  • Record fixes, setup instructions, testing steps and other useful technical guidance

  • Take part in regular check-ins, code reviews and project discussions

  • Work constructively with technical and non-technical colleagues to understand requirements

  • Learn and apply effective development, testing, security and documentation practices

  • Manage clearly defined tasks across multiple projects, asking for support when needed

  • Foundational knowledge of HTML and CSS

  • Foundational programming ability in JavaScript, Python or a comparable language

  • An understanding of how frontend and backend components work together in a web application

  • A logical approach to problem-solving, testing and investigating errors

  • A passion for writing clear, readable and maintainable code

  • Clear verbal and written communication, including the ability to explain progress and blockers

  • A willingness to ask questions, receive feedback and continue learning

  • Comfortable asking for clarification and transparent when stuck or unsure

  • Receptive to guidance, feedback and code review

  • Detail-focused when developing, testing and documenting work

  • Practical and interested in building useful, reliable software

  • Positive, flexible and able to adapt when priorities change
