KBR is proud to work with its customers across the globe to provide technology, value-added services, and long-term operations and maintenance services to ensure consistent delivery with predictable results. At KBR, We Deliver.
Within KBR, Technology Solutions is at the forefront of both traditional and energy‑transition technologies, developing and delivering proprietary process technologies and high‑value consulting services that support the global move toward lower‑carbon energy systems.
The Role
KBR Technology Solutions is seeking an ambitious and motivated Graduate Chemical Engineer to join our process engineering technology group based at the London Technology Centre (LTC) in Leatherhead.
As a graduate process engineer, you will contribute to the development and application of clean ammonia, hydrogen, and low‑carbon process technologies, working alongside experienced engineers and subject‑matter experts who are recognised world-leaders in their field.
What You’ll Be Working On
You will support projects and technology development across the full asset life cycle — from early concept through engineering and operation — with a strong focus on ammonia and hydrogen value chains, including:
Conventional (grey) ammonia and hydrogen technologies
Low‑carbon ammonia and hydrogen, including green ammonia, blue ammonia, and blue hydrogen
Revamp and optimisation of existing assets to increase capacity, improve energy efficiency, and reduce carbon intensity
Emerging low‑carbon technologies, such as ammonia cracking and methane pyrolysis
You’ll be part of a diverse and collaborative team, working closely with fellow graduates, principal engineers, and technical SMEs to deliver high‑impact solutions for global clients.
What You’ll Learn
As a Process Engineering Graduate, you’ll gain hands‑on experience across all stages of project and technology development, including:
Process simulation, mass and energy balances, and equipment design
Development and application of KBR proprietary process technologies
Concept selection, techno‑economic assessment, and feasibility studies
Detailed process design, HAZOP support, and project execution
Working in multi‑disciplinary, international project teams
Understanding how clean ammonia and hydrogen projects are developed both technically and commercially
You will also benefit from:
Rotations across different projects and technology areas
Exposure to global projects and international teams
Opportunities for site visits and overseas assignments, where project needs allow
What We Offer
Our graduate scheme is designed to accelerate your development and prepare you for a successful engineering career:
A structured two‑year graduate development programme
Mentorship from industry-leading engineers and access to a global professional network
Accreditation support through the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE), helping you work towards Chartered Engineer status
The chance to contribute to high-impact, sustainable engineering projects
Competitive salary and benefits, including healthcare, pension, and flexible working options
A supportive and inclusive work environment that values diversity of thought and innovation
Automatic enrolment in KBR’s IMPACT network, which connects early-career professionals and hosts social and development activities across all locations
Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for graduates who are passionate about process engineering, proactive and motivated and who demonstrate:
A 2:1 degree or higher in Chemical Engineering (Master’s degree preferred)
A strong interest in process simulation, process design and technology development
A genuine enthusiasm for clean ammonia, hydrogen, and low‑carbon technologies
Curiosity, analytical thinking, and a desire to solve complex engineering problems
Clear communication and presentation skills
The ability to work effectively in collaborative, multi‑disciplinary, and multicultural teams
Initiative, adaptability, and a strong willingness to learn
Here are some of the benefits you can expect:
Competitive starting salary with regular reviews.
Pension scheme
Private Healthcare
Flexible holiday policy
Agile working week
