About the opportunity

As a Graduate Carbon Consultant, you will support a range of projects helping clients meet the challenges of climate change. You will contribute to carbon accounting and management, decarbonisation and offsetting strategies, climate transition planning, whole life carbon assessments, sustainability disclosures, and carbon compliance, all within the framework of Jacobs’ PlanBeyond 2025+ commitment to integrating sustainability across operations and client delivery. 

You will work alongside senior specialists to deliver high‑quality technical inputs, while also helping to apply digital and data‑enabled approaches to improve carbon assessments, reporting and decision‑making - a capability strengthened by Jacobs’ strategic focus on data solutions.

This role is designed for early‑career professionals who want to build deep expertise in carbon management and carbon compliance and grow within a purpose‑led organisation focused on shaping a more sustainable and resilient future.

Given the breadth of opportunities, typical tasks would include: 

• Support the delivery of greenhouse gas inventories across Scopes 1–3 for a variety of projects and sectors, including data analysis, preparing baseline assessments and supporting emissions forecasting and target setting.

• Conduct Whole Life Carbon Assessments (WLCA) for infrastructure projects using tools such as eTool and OneClick LCA, with the ability to learn and adapt to additional LCA tools as required.

• Support the development of carbon management plans, aligning project delivery with recognised standards (i.e. PAS 2080) and contributing to decarbonisation strategies and climate‑aligned transition plans.

• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary design teams to help integrate low‑carbon design principles, circularity, material efficiency and resource‑optimisation strategies into project solutions.

• Engage confidently with clients by supporting workshops, technical discussions and presentations, helping translate sustainability analysis into clear, actionable insights.

• Support assurance activities, including data checks and verification tasks related to carbon accounting and sustainability targets.

• Stay up to date with developments in carbon policy, carbon accounting standards and wider sustainability topics, ensuring project work reflects evolving guidance and best practice.

• Actively engaging in Jacobs’ global communities of practice (COP) of relevance to carbon and sustainability. 

• Use digital tools and structured data workflows to improve the quality, consistency and transparency of data collection and analysis.

• Be working towards a relevant Degree or Master’s level qualification in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, Climate Change or a related discipline.
