Graduate engineering role at IONETIC working on real-world electric vehicle battery packs across mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, software, systems, thermal and testing disciplines.

ABOUT IONETIC

IONETIC is a software-accelerated, end-to-end battery pack design and manufacturing company, on a mission to make electrification possible and compelling for every manufacturer on the planet. Our platform, Arc, generates a production-ready pack configuration in minutes rather than months, and takes hardware into series production three times faster than traditional approaches.

We build packs for automotive, bus, marine and off-highway customers, from our R&D lab in London and our Battery Fabrication and Industrialisation Centre in Brackley.

THE ROLE

We are looking for talented, motivated engineers at the start of their careers. We are not asking for experience. We are asking for the ability to think clearly, learn fast and take something on.

You will join a small engineering team building real hardware for real customers. Graduates here are not given a training exercise while the actual work happens elsewhere. Within weeks you will own a piece of a live programme, and your work will end up in a pack that ships.

We hire across mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, software, systems, thermal and test. Tell us where you are strongest and where you want to grow, and we will place you accordingly.

WHERE YOU COULD WORK

  • Pack and enclosure design, structural and thermal performance, CAD through to prototype.

  • High and low voltage architecture, busbars, harnesses, cell interconnects, safety systems.

  • Battery management systems, embedded firmware, and the design and simulation tools behind Arc.

  • Process design, automation, tooling and industrialisation at our Brackley facility.

  • Systems and test. Requirements, integration, validation, and the test programmes that prove a pack is safe and performs.

Not sure which fits? Apply anyway and tell us what you enjoy. We will work it out together.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Motivation matters more to us than a CV. We would rather have someone hungry who learns fast than someone polished who waits to be told.

  • Genuinely motivated. You want to build things, and you will push to understand how something works rather than accept that it does.

  • A fast learner. You will be handed unfamiliar problems regularly. Working out what you do not know is most of the job.

  • Willing to take ownership. You raise your hand, you own the outcome, and you say so early when something is going wrong.

  • A clear thinker and communicator. You can explain your reasoning to someone who was not in the room.

  • Hands-on. You are as happy on the shop floor or at a test rig as you are at a screen.

A degree in engineering, physics, computer science or a related subject, or equivalent practical ability. Personal projects, Formula Student, placements, internships and things you built for fun all count. No professional experience required.

WHAT WE WILL GIVE YOU

  • Real responsibility, early. Your work goes into products for real customers in your first months, not your second year.

  • Breadth you will not get elsewhere. Small teams mean you see a pack from concept through design, build, test and manufacture, not one narrow slice of it.

  • Room to grow without a ceiling. We are scaling. The people who step up early end up leading the work, and we promote on capability rather than time served.

  • Senior people who will actually teach you. You will work directly alongside experienced engineers and our technical leadership, with access to specialist advisors and contractors on live programmes.

  • Direct interface to the leadership team. We are small enough that our C-suite know what you are working on and you can ask them why.

  • Work that matters. Electrification is one of the few industries where the engineering and the purpose point in the same direction.
