Job Summary:
As a Mechanical Engineering & Automation Intern at Honeywell, in Yeovil, you will work with our Operations team in manufacturing engineering, working towards improving and optimising our current processes, using automation.
This role is part of our University Relations program, designed to help students and recent graduates launch their careers with hands-on experience, mentorship, and opportunities for growth within Honeywell. This internship is set up for 12 months to cover a sandwich placement starting in Summer 2026, or a recent graduate, having graduated no earlier than 2025, with the possibility for a permanent opportunity at completion.

Key responsibilities:
You will work closely with experienced professionals, and be assigned a buddy, to gain hands-on experience within a friendly and supportive team to be trained to achieve the following:
Review manufacturing and engineering processes to identify automation opportunities
Support implementation of data collection systems using IoT and industrial technologies
Analyse machine performance, utilisation, and production flow to identify inefficiencies
Assist in evaluating equipment performance and capacity improvements
Develop and run simulation models to test process improvements and production scenarios
Assess efficiency of production lines and propose optimisation initiatives
Key skills and qualifications:
Currently studying a sandwich course degree, or graduated no earlier than 2025, in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Automation, or similar with a passion for training and graduating in 2028
Having studied mechanical engineering, automation or robotics as part of your degree
Full right to work in the UK, without the need of sponsorship
A passion for understanding data driven manufacturing processes, data-driven manufacturing, or Industry 4.0
Exposure to automation, PLCs, or industrial control systems, this an be from your studies, work experience, or a hobby
