What you’ll do

As an Engineering Graduate, you’ll build your technical capability while developing the leadership skills needed to succeed in a fast-paced, operational environment.

Year 1 – Operational Experience

Gain hands-on experience across our UK network, understanding how our engineering function supports transport and warehouse operations.

You’ll develop knowledge in:

• Fleet engineering management and maintenance operations

• New vehicle technology evaluation, including zero-emission solutions

• Engineering project delivery within a live logistics environment

Year 2 – Strategic & Leadership Exposure

In your second year, you’ll build on your first year, broadening your impact and perspective by:

• Working alongside senior leaders across Gist and M&S

• Delivering engineering projects, innovation and transformation initiatives

• Building commercial awareness, including financial and operational decision-making

• Collaborating with engineering and operational teams to deliver positive change

By the end of the programme, you’ll have the experience, confidence, and capability to step into a future engineering leadership role.

Who you are

We’re looking for ambitious, driven graduates who are ready to challenge themselves and build a long-term career in engineering.

You will ideally have:

• A minimum 2:1 degree in an engineering discipline

• A strong ambition to progress into a leadership role

• A proactive, improvement-focused mindset

• Confidence working in a fast-paced, evolving environment

• The ability to adapt, learn quickly, and step outside your comfort zone

• Strong teamworking and communication skills, with a people-first approach
