Graduate Development at GHD
GHD’s Graduate Program is aimed at developing our future leaders and technical specialists. During our two-year global graduate development programme our Graduate Engineers will work with our Engineering teams developing skills across a wide variety of projects in the Water, Energy, Industrial, Property and Buildings sectors both in the UK and overseas. Your contribution will make a positive lasting benefit to the environment and our communities.
Whilst learning about our business, our values, your team, and most importantly, yourself you will develop your decision-making, communication, technical and leadership skills.
We offer mentoring and a variety of development activities, providing on the job experience and exposure to a diverse range of projects, as well as support towards gaining chartered status within your Engineering field.
Based in our Leeds or Newcastle Office.
You will get involved in a portfolio of different projects and apply your newly acquired skills in a range of environments. Your role will develop as your knowledge of our business increases, but initially you will be involved in :
Responsibilities
Consulting Project Content Development: Develop and write materials that are highly visible—such as slide decks for standardized presentations to senior management, or sections of client reports—for review by more senior colleagues.
Data Collection and Analysis: Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently.
Improvement/Innovation: Identify shortcomings in existing processes, systems, and procedures, and use established change management programs to address them.
Stakeholder Engagement: Assist with stakeholder engagement by arranging actions, meetings, events, and supporting materials to promote stakeholder understanding and commitment.
Document Management: Create a company-wide document management system and ensure compliance with it.
Operations Management: Provide operational support services and sometimes act as first-line supervisor of a transactional operations area. Involves using existing systems and protocols.
Work Scheduling and Allocation: Assign short-term work schedules to a team of subordinates in order to achieve expectations while following established timelines.
Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
Operational Compliance: Identify, within the team, instances of noncompliance with the organization's policies and procedures and/or relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, reporting these instances and escalating issues as appropriate.
Project Management: Work within an established project management plan to achieve specific goals.
Client & Customer Management (External): Help senior colleagues manage client and customer relationships by using relevant sales or client systems
To deliver against these responsibilities you will demonstrate:
Landscape Architect with degree qualification including master planning, detailed design and delivery experience
Background in landscape, urban design, environmental consultancy (preferred)
Position is based in Newcastle upon Tyne and Leeds and offices (hybrid working) with comprehensive benefits package, mentoring and on-going training
Highly skilled in various design and graphics packages to include hand drawing, sketching AutoCAD, SketchUp and Adobe Suite
