Designs, simulates, tests, and validates high-power electrical conversion systems and semiconductor assemblies for industrial, energy, transport, and marine applications.
About the Role
We are looking for a motivated Graduate or Junior Power Electronics Engineer to join our growing engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career engineer to gain hands-on experience designing and developing high-power semiconductor assemblies, controlled rectifier systems, power conversion equipment, and industrial power electronics solutions.
Working alongside experienced engineers, you will support projects from initial concept through design, simulation, testing, and customer acceptance. The role offers exposure to real-world high-power applications used in industries including energy, industrial manufacturing, transportation, marine, and research systems.
This position is ideal for someone with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related discipline who is keen to develop practical engineering skills and build a long-term career in power electronics.
What You'll Be Doing
Design & Development
Support the design of power electronic systems including:
Controlled rectifiers
Thyristor and diode assemblies
High-voltage semiconductor stacks
Power conversion and protection equipment
Assist in the selection and specification of power semiconductor devices.
Contribute to the design of snubber circuits, protection systems, and auxiliary circuits.
Help develop electrical schematics and technical documentation.
Simulation & Analysis
Carry out electrical simulations using tools such as PLECS, LTspice, or similar software.
Analyse converter performance, power factor, harmonics, fault conditions, and system behaviour.
Assist with thermal calculations and temperature assessments of semiconductor devices and cooling systems.
Support the validation of designs against customer and project requirements.
Testing & Validation
Participate in prototype assembly, testing, and development activities.
Help investigate technical issues and support root-cause analysis.
Assist with factory acceptance testing and product validation activities.
Support continuous improvement of existing products and designs.
Customer & Project Support
Review customer specifications with senior engineers.
Support technical discussions and design reviews.
Assist in preparing reports, calculations, and project documentation.
