Work as a Graduate Archaeology and Built Heritage Consultant, supporting archaeological assessments, heritage applications, site visits, reporting and environmental planning projects while developing professional expertise in the UK and Ireland.

Dalcour Maclaren are seeking a graduate archaeology and built heritage consultant to join our expanding teams in either Crewe or Tewksbury.

As a Graduate Archaeology and Built Heritage Consultant you will:

  • Work collaboratively within the Archaeology and Built Heritage Team and the wider Environment & Planning Team by providing support to colleagues

  • Learn how to assemble baseline data for archaeological desk-based assessments and built heritage statements

  • Undertake site visits

  • Draft consent applications for works on listed buildings and scheduled monuments

  • Support colleagues on site as required

  • Contribute to site reports

  • Undertake training (both internal and external)

  • Develop an understanding of the regulatory framework for historic environment practice in the UK and Ireland

  • Work to defined budgets and timetables

The successful candidate will have:

  • A degree in archaeology or related subject

  • A basic knowledge of the primary legislation, policies and guidance pertaining to the historic environment in the UK

  • Demonstrable interest in the heritage sector

  • Full clean UK Driving licence

  • Be prepared to join CIfA (or IHBC) and work towards professional accreditation

  • Good organisational & communication skills

  • Excellent team working skills but able to act on their own initiative

  • Working knowledge of MS Office

  • Be prepared to learn how to use a GIS package

  • Excellent verbal and written skills
