Connolly Ltd is offering a graduate Accountancy role in Wigan to support finance operations such as invoicing, reconciliations, and reporting within the social housing construction sector while gaining hands-on accounting experience.
A bit about the role …
We are seeking an enthusiastic Accountancy Graduate to join our finance team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to gain hands‑on experience within a busy finance function, supporting accurate, compliant, and efficient financial operations.
You will work closely with experienced finance professionals, playing a key role in maintaining financial records, processing transactions, and supporting the day‑to‑day running of the finance department, while developing your technical and practical accounting skills.
This role is based at our Head Office, therefore the successful candidate must be able to reliably commute to the office. Access to a vehicle and the ability to drive to site is desirable due to the office location.

What you will be responsible for…
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and reports.
Assist with processing customer invoices accurately and on time, ensuring prompt payment and assisting with credit control and payment runs.
Assist with supplier invoices, ensuring they are coded, authorised and processed in a timely manner.
Support the processing of payments to suppliers, subcontractors and staff, following fraud prevention procedures.
Assist with setting up new supplier and subcontractor accounts, verifying tax status and maintaining accurate records.
Support monthly bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations.
Assist with staff expense payments.
Help monitor and analyse costs, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements.
Post transactions to the sales and purchase ledgers.
Update and maintain financial spreadsheets, including debtors, creditors and reconciliations.
Support improvements in finance processes and systems to enhance efficiency.
Provide financial information and support to other departments as required.
Assist with any other duties fulfilled by the finance team as required
Foster cooperation and collaboration with other teams within the business to maximise efficiency
What we’d like from you…
This role is ideal for someone at the start of their finance career.
We’re looking for:
A recent graduate in Accountancy, Finance, Economics, or a related degree
An interest in developing a career in finance, accounting, or commercial finance
Strong numeracy skills and excellent attention to detail
Good organisational and time‑management abilities, with the ability to prioritise tasks
A collaborative approach and the confidence to communicate effectively across teams
Competence in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
A professional attitude, with the ability to handle confidential information discreetly
Previous finance or construction industry experience is advantageous but not essential
