CGI Graduate Technology Engineer – Software, Cloud & Infrastructure role develops graduates across software engineering, cloud platforms, infrastructure, DevOps, testing, technical support and emerging technologies such as AI and data engineering.

Position Description:

At CGI, we empower the next generation of innovators to shape the future of technology and security. As part of #GenerationCGI, you’ll join a community of graduates who are turning ambition into action and possibility into progress.

As a Technology Engineer - Software, Cloud & Infrastructure Graduate, you’ll help design, build, test and support the technology that organisations rely on. Depending on your project, you could be developing software, automating tests, engineering cloud platforms, supporting applications or helping manage secure and reliable infrastructure.

You’ll be trusted with responsibility from the start, working alongside experienced colleagues on live projects across a range of industries. You’ll develop broad technical experience while building deeper expertise in the technologies and areas that best match your strengths and career ambitions.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

In this role, you’ll use technology to solve real-world problems and deliver reliable services for CGI’s clients. The work will vary by project, giving you opportunities to develop experience across software engineering, testing, cloud technology, infrastructure, DevOps and technical support.

You may:

  • Develop software solutions: Design, build and maintain front-end, back-end or full-stack applications using modern programming languages, frameworks and development practices.

  • Test and assure quality: Create and run manual or automated tests to help ensure that software is reliable, secure and meets user requirements.

  • Engineer cloud platforms: Help design, configure and support scalable cloud environments using technologies such as AWS or Microsoft Azure.

  • Build and support infrastructure: Work with operating systems, networks, virtualisation, containers and platform services that underpin critical applications.

  • Automate delivery: Apply DevOps and DevSecOps practices to improve build, testing, deployment and operational processes.

  • Support live services: Investigate technical issues, monitor systems and help maintain the performance, availability and security of applications and platforms.

  • Work with data and emerging technology: Contribute to projects involving data engineering, artificial intelligence, automation or other developing technologies.

  • Collaborate with clients and colleagues: Work in multidisciplinary teams, communicate technical information clearly and help deliver solutions that meet client needs.

  • Innovate alongside other graduates: Take part in early careers initiatives that go beyond your day-to-day role.

Every contribution you make will help deliver outcomes with lasting impact.

As CGI is a consultancy, you may be required to work from a CGI office or client site and occasionally travel to different locations. Flexibility and a willingness to travel are therefore important.

Why Join Us?
At CGI, you’ll be part of a culture that celebrates diversity, inclusion and collaboration, where your perspective is valued and your ideas contribute to meaningful outcomes.

Your journey starts with a structured Early Careers Induction Programme, giving you the foundations to succeed, along with 24/7 e-learning and opportunities to gain professional certifications that build your expertise. You’ll also join our Student Kick-start Initiative, where you’ll collaborate with other graduates on creative projects that deliver impact beyond your day-to-day role.

CGI is an unconditionally inclusive workplace where you are respected, your voice is heard and you can be yourself. We were recognised in the Sunday Times Best Places to Work List 2025 and named a UK ‘Best Employer’ by the Financial Times. We proudly hold a Gold Award in recognition of our support of the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant.

Benefits
Along with a competitive salary and a £1,000 joining bonus, you’ll enjoy benefits that support every stage of your journey. You’ll share in CGI’s success through our matched share scheme, have access to private healthcare, well-being programmes and professional training, and build financial security with a competitive pension.

Beyond the day job, you’ll connect with others through graduate networks, diversity groups and social clubs that make your time at CGI both rewarding and enjoyable.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

We’re seeking technically curious graduates who enjoy solving problems and want to build technology that makes a real difference. You do not need experience in every area listed below. We’re interested in the technical strengths you already have, your willingness to learn and the direction in which you want to develop.

You should have:

  • A minimum 2:2 degree, normally in computer science, software engineering, information technology, computer engineering, mathematics, physics, cyber security or another relevant STEM subject. Some positions may accept other degree subjects where you can demonstrate strong technical ability, and some may require a 2:1.

  • A genuine interest in software, cloud technology, infrastructure or supporting technical services.

  • Strong analytical thinking and a practical approach to solving problems.

  • The ability to work collaboratively and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering reliable, high-quality work.

  • A willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to different projects and client environments.

  • Flexibility to travel and work from CGI offices or client sites where required.

  • Eligibility for Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, with some positions requiring higher National Security Vetting. This may include additional residency or nationality requirements, which will be explained for the relevant role.

Technical skills we value include:

  • Programming and scripting: Experience with one or more languages such as Java, C#, Python or JavaScript.

  • Software engineering: An understanding of application development, full-stack development, APIs, microservices, web or mobile development.

  • Software testing: An interest in quality assurance, test automation and building reliable software.

  • Cloud technologies: Exposure to AWS, Microsoft Azure, cloud architecture or cloud-native development.

  • DevOps and automation: Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible or related automation and delivery tools.

  • Containers and platforms: An understanding of Docker, Kubernetes, virtualisation or platform engineering.

  • Systems and infrastructure: Familiarity with Linux or Red Hat, systems administration, networking, infrastructure engineering or site reliability engineering.

  • Data technologies: Exposure to SQL, data engineering, Databricks, Elastic or data modelling

  • Agile delivery: An understanding of Agile ways of working and tools such as Jira or Confluence.

  • Emerging technology: An interest in artificial intelligence, generative AI, automation or other developing technologies would be beneficial.
