A Graduate Trainee role with Ceredigion Council supporting carbon reduction, energy management, building compliance, and asset management projects across public sector buildings.

Looking to start your career in sustainability and the built environment? Want to help deliver safe, efficient and sustainable public buildings across Ceredigion? We’re looking for a motivated graduate to join us as a Graduate Trainee in Carbon Reduction, Energy and Asset Management on a 12-month full-time, fixed-term contract.

In this role, you’ll work alongside experienced colleagues to support our energy, carbon and asset management work—building practical skills in data, compliance and project delivery. You’ll be supported to learn the systems and tools you need, and you’ll help turn information into action that improves our buildings and services. Prior knowledge and experience of using AutoCAD is desirable.

What you’ll be doing

  • Support the delivery of energy and carbon reduction projects, working with colleagues and suppliers

  • Carry out measured building surveys and update plans using AutoCAD to support compliance

  • Help maintain building safety registers, including asbestos and legionella, and keep property data up to date

  • Input, update and quality-check data in the Infoshare Asset Management system and SystemsLink Energy Manager software

Who we’re looking for

You’re curious, organised and keen to make a difference. To be eligible, you’ll need a 2:1 degree (or above), completed within the last three years. You’ll also need to be able to travel and attend locations across Ceredigion using your own transport arrangements as required.

In return, you’ll gain valuable public sector experience, grow your expertise in energy and asset management, and, subject to outstanding performance leading to a follow-on contract, we’ll support you to gain RICS and MBIFM professional qualifications.

What’s in it for you?

  • a 12-month paid placement (aiming to commence mid-September 2026)

  • a recognised project management qualification (Prince 2)

  • professional support and mentorship

  • 27 days of annual leave, plus 8 public holidays

  • hybrid working – subject to a suitable workspace, broadband connection, and service needs, you may choose to work from home or in one of our offices

  • flexi-time – subject to service needs, you may flex your working hours between 7:30 am and 7:00 pm, with hours in credit taken as additional leave

  • the potential for a follow-on contract, subject to outstanding performance and available funding, which may include further support to gain a specialist professional qualification
