About the Role

We are seeking motivated and ambitious Junior / Graduate Utility Surveyors to join our Underground Utility Survey teams based in Shropshire.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start or develop a career within the surveying industry. Whether you are a recent graduate, college leaver, or have some relevant industry experience, you will receive training and support from experienced professionals while working on a wide variety of underground utility and geospatial projects.

You will gain hands-on experience using the latest survey technologies and have the opportunity to develop your technical skills within a growing, multi-disciplinary surveying business that offers clear career progression pathways.

No previous utility surveying experience is required, although any relevant qualifications, survey experience or technical knowledge would be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the delivery of underground utility surveys to PAS128 standards

• Support utility mapping projects using electromagnetic locating and ground penetrating radar (GPR) technologies

• Learn to operate Radiodetection and Vivax electromagnetic locating equipment

• Assist with ground penetrating radar surveys using industry-standard systems

• Support the processing and interpretation of survey data

• Assist in producing survey drawings and outputs using AutoCAD

• Contribute to projects involving topographical and drainage survey information

• Work closely with experienced surveyors to develop technical skills and industry knowledge

• Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard

• Help maintain survey equipment and ensure operational readiness

• Contribute positively to the ongoing growth and development of the utilities department

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

• A qualification in Surveying, Geomatics, Engineering, Geography, Construction, Civil Engineering or a related discipline would be advantageous, but is not essential

• Enthusiasm for surveying, engineering, construction, geography or a related field

• Willingness to learn new technologies and develop technical skills

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability

• Good communication and organisational skills

• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

• Positive attitude and willingness to work outdoors in a variety of environments

• Basic knowledge of AutoCAD would be beneficial

• Full UK driving licence, or working towards obtaining one

• Willingness to travel and stay away from home when required
