BNP Paribas Global Banking – Capital Markets Graduate role supporting major corporate and institutional clients with debt, equity, acquisition financing and other capital-markets transactions.
About BNP Paribas
With strong roots in Europe’s economic history, combined with a rich heritage with a UK history spanning over 150 years, BNP Paribas is both a leading European bank and a prominent global institution. As the ‘Bank for a Changing World,’ we put our clients at the centre of our world, innovate on their behalf, and support clients through changing times.
BNP Paribas is one of Europe’s leading banks with an international presence in 68 countries and more than 183,000 employees. We are looking for the next generation of talent to help us drive our long-term commitment to building a responsible and sustainable financial future.
1. A great place to work
Depending on your role, you can benefit from hybrid, flexible, and agile working arrangements, and a collaborative culture that values balance and inclusion.
You will also join an inclusive culture, supported by networks such as Pride, Ability, MixCity (gender equality), Early Careers Network, Multicultural Network and more.
2. A positive impact
Work for a firm where ethical standards and sustainability are the core of our purpose.
We are committed to Net Zero in our financing and investment portfolios by 2050 and a goal of 80% low-carbon energy financing by 2030.
Our impact goes beyond the climate, we empower our employees to give back with every employee receiving four volunteering days each year; in 2023 alone our UK employees dedicated over 18,000 hours to volunteering.
Our strong ESG performance has been recognised and we were named Top Employer Europe 2026 for the 13th consecutive year and World’s Best Bank for Sustainable Finance (Euromoney, 2026).
3. A focus on growth
There is clear focus on investing in our people through training, mentoring and career development with dedicated career days to provide you tools to evolve. Our training offerings are deeply embedded into our Early Careers programmes, and continue to support your career progression beyond being an intern and graduate. In 2024, nearly half of our UK Corporate & Institutional Banking roles were filled internally.
Here you will gain exposure to areas such as Debt Markets, Equity Capital Markets, Real Estate Finance, Energy & Infrastructure and Corporate Broking. From financing acquisitions and refinancing loans to raising equity and advising strategic transactions, this is where you will see how we deliver complex solutions for major clients.
You could be placed in any of the below teams:
Equity Capital Market (ECM)- Supporting listed and private companies across EMEA in raising equity either via an IPO, Accelerated Bookbuildings or Rights Issues as well as helping shareholders place shares of listed companies to equity investors. The ECM team is instrumental in structuring and marketing these strategic equity transactions and interacts on a daily basis with multiple teams across the bank. These include equity syndicate, research, sales and industry groups, as well as the equity-linked team sitting within ECM which structures Convertible Bonds.
Corporate Broking - Corporate Broking is a unique role as a strategic advisor for listed UK corporate clients, combining relationship management with strategic capital markets advice. Key areas of focus for the team include shareholder analysis, market intelligence, strategic advisory, as well as regulatory updates. Working closely with company Boards, C-Suite, and investor relations. You will get to work closely with other parts of the bank, including ECM, UK Advisory, Industry Group, Coverage, and Equities.
Real Estate - Real Estate Capital Markets works with global real estate investors including private equity funds, sovereign wealth funds and REITs to structure and deliver bespoke financings for commercial real estate acquisitions, developments and take-privates. The team also leads the bank's strategic relationships with real estate corporates, partnering with colleagues across Global Banking and Global Markets to facilitate access to BNPP’s full spectrum of products and services.
Energy and Infrastructure (E&I) -The team acts as an adviser and arranger of limited recourse financing solutions across the EMEA region in the Energy and Infrastructure sectors. This includes advising clients with respect to their debt financing needs, arranging and structuring debt financing as mandated lead arranger, cross selling other products of the bank (including hedging and cash management solutions), acting as coverage for certain clients and monitoring its exposure to transactions on its book.
Debt Capital Markets (DCM)- In the DCM team we support investment grade corporate clients when raising, structuring and managing their debt. We focus mainly on issuing new debt (bonds or hybrids) but also work closely with clients to optimise their existing debt portfolios via liability management. It is a role that sits in Global Banking but is also very market focused. We are often busy executing deals as well as working on more strategic transactions. We partner closely with all of the other teams in this list.
Leverage Finance - Supporting Private Equity funds and sub-investment grade companies in raising and managing their debt, optimizing their capital structure.
Loan Capital Markets - Supporting corporate clients, predominantly by structuring and financing their large acquisitions. These large deals take place in a fast-paced environment. The responsibilities include learning financial modelling and credit analysis
