You’ll also benefit from structured training, mentoring and support towards professional accreditation and chartership.
Responsibilities and Activities:
Supporting the inspection, maintenance and improvement of bridges, structures and trunk roads across Scotland’s strategic road network.
Assisting with the delivery of engineering projects from planning and design through to construction and completion.
Undertaking site visits, condition inspections and surveys to help identify and assess engineering solutions.
Preparing technical reports, specifications, risk assessments and project documentation.
Supporting the management of project programmes, budgets and costs.
Working collaboratively with contractors, local authorities, clients and other stakeholders.
Assisting in fulfilling Designer duties in accordance with CDM Regulations and health and safety requirements.
Contributing to the safe and efficient delivery of winter maintenance and emergency response activities when required.
Learning from experienced engineers and participating in BEAR’s Graduate Development Programme.
Working towards a professional qualification and chartered status with support from the business.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
A degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
A genuine interest in highways, bridges, structures and transport infrastructure.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
Ambition to progress towards ICE, IStructE or other relevant professional accreditation.
Experience using engineering or design software would be advantageous.
A full UK driving licence.
