Job overview:

It’s an exciting time to join us here at AXA UK, as a graduate in our Retail business. You’ll be provided with excellent career development opportunities and placements in at least 3 areas of our Pricing and Analytics department.

You’ll quickly become part of these teams, providing technical support using an array of tools and methods in the analytics, modelling, pricing, underwriting, data science and governance disciplines to develop your understanding of insurance pricing and underwriting.

 

You'll build on traditional approaches on established systems as well as on new infrastructure and draw on emerging data science practices to provide insight. Through your personal and tailored development plan (which will be owned and driven by you), you'll have the constant support and guidance of your line managers and mentors to learn and develop.

Key responsibilities:

  • Create, maintain, validate and reconcile exposure and claims data to be ready for analysis/modelling.

  • Support creation, maintenance, deployment and testing of predictive models. Build insight using this data to identify trends and patterns to inform actions supporting line of business strategy.

  • Ensure processes are efficient and enhanced to meet business needs and customer expectations.

  • Assist in producing and developing appropriate and accurate monitoring for stakeholders to support decision-making.

  • Use a developing skill set to suggest and provide routine analysis that supports the strategy in respect of relevant Business Lines. We’re always looking for innovative ways to improve what we do.

  • Spend time in the different areas of the Pricing and Analytics team, developing a well-rounded skillset from data science, risk modelling, demand modelling, to understanding how we ensure customer fairness and determine footprint appetite.

Work arrangements:

At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means attending the office, visiting clients or attending industry events.

Your skills & experience:

  • Excellent numerical mathematical skills. 2.1 degree or higher in a mathematics, statistics or other numerate degree such as physics and quantitative risk/finance.

  • A-Level Mathematics A Grade or equivalent.

  • Ability to demonstrate high levels of problem-solving skills and initiative.

  • Effective communication skills to help establish a network within AXA.

  • Continuous appetite to learn, develop skills and complete a relevant professional qualification.

  • Ability to plan and prioritise own work with a high level of attention to detail.

  • Embrace teamwork by supporting and respecting others.

  • Knowledge and experience of modelling techniques and computer languages such as R, Python, SAS, SQL, Excel VBA or other analytical language/tools would be desirable.

  • Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines whilst maintaining reliability and accuracy.
