Assystem Graduate Project Controls role develops graduates in planning, scheduling, cost management, risk, change control, data analysis and performance reporting for major energy, infrastructure and defence projects.

Meeting the challenges of the energy transition and strengthening our sovereignty are among the key priorities of the 21st century. At the heart of these challenges, Assystem supports its clients in delivering their most strategic projects. To achieve this, our 8,000 Switchers leverage their expertise in engineering, project management, and digital solutions.

Operating in 13 countries (Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia, and North America), we contribute to the development of new nuclear power generation capacities, the operational maintenance of existing facilities, and the design and delivery of critical infrastructure, particularly in the defence sector.

Your Future Team

Are you analytical, curious and interested in what keeps complex projects on track?

Join our two-year Graduate Programme and begin your career with our Project Controls team. You’ll work alongside experienced consultants supporting major programmes across energy, infrastructure and defence.

Project Controls brings together information on time, cost, risk, change and performance to help project teams understand where they are, anticipate challenges and make informed decisions. It acts as a project’s early-warning system by comparing actual progress against agreed plans and baselines.

You’ll gain practical experience across the core areas of project controls, which may include planning and scheduling, cost management, risk, change control, data analysis and performance reporting. You’ll be supported as you build your technical capability, learn how projects operate and develop the confidence to work with clients and multidisciplinary teams.

Job Description

Your Responsibilities

From day one, you’ll work with real project information to help teams understand performance and make better decisions. You’ll support the collection and analysis of data, contribute to plans and reports, and help identify where projects may be moving away from agreed time, cost or delivery targets.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the development and maintenance of project plans, schedules, forecasts and baselines.

  • Collecting, checking and analysing project information from different teams and systems.

  • Helping monitor progress, costs, risks and changes against agreed project targets.

  • Identifying trends, variances and emerging issues, and raising them with experienced team members.

  • Supporting the preparation of dashboards, performance reports and clear management information.

  • Helping maintain risk, change, action and decision records.

  • Working with project managers, planners, cost specialists, engineers, commercial teams and other stakeholders.

  • Contributing to project meetings, reviews and improvement activities while developing your specialist knowledge.

Why Join Us?

🚀 Give purpose to your career by joining a company that contributes sustainably to the production of low-carbon, competitive and sovereign energy.

🌍 Explore a wide variety of projects and careers within a strong group, ensuring stimulating and diverse assignments throughout your career.

📚 Develop your skills through an ambitious training program: 5,000 employees trained and more than 100,000 training hours delivered each year.

Your Strengths and Requirements for Success

We’re looking for graduates who:

  • Have recently completed, or expect to complete, a degree in any discipline before joining the Graduate Programme.

  • Enjoy working with numbers, information and data to understand how something is performing.

  • Are curious and willing to question what the information is telling you.

  • Can identify patterns, solve problems and explain your findings clearly.

  • Have strong organisational skills and feel comfortable managing different tasks and deadlines.

  • Communicate clearly and enjoy working with colleagues, clients and stakeholders.

  • Are proactive, reliable and willing to learn from experienced team members.

  • Have an interest in how complex projects are planned, monitored and delivered.

Experience of Excel, Power BI, data analysis, planning tools, risk analysis or project management through your degree, placement, employment or personal projects would be beneficial, but is not essential.

Eligibility Requirements:

To join our Graduate Scheme, you must be a UK sole national and a UK resident, as this is required for the type of work we do. You’ll also need to be able to obtain a minimum of Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, with some roles requiring higher levels of clearance.

As part of the programme, you should also be willing to relocate or travel within the UK, and we’ll provide relocation support where needed.
