Analox is a well established global leader in the research, development and manufacturing of complex gas sensing products and systems. Our equipment is used across a diverse range of markets and applications such as submarines, space, beverage and deep sea diving. We have 117 people.  Analox operates from a purpose built 15,000 sq ft factory and offices in Stokesley Business Park, North Yorkshire, and from a remotely based sales and sales support team as well as a distribution centre in Houston, Texas

Overall Purpose of the Role

To identify research activities that are pertinent to Analox’s business and deliver research outcomes that are proven to the extent that they can be developed into products or discounted as opportunities. 

Main Responsibilities

  • By Following the Analox research process, manage the successful completion of the research programme ands associated research projects, which may include:

    • Building and evaluating prototypes.

    • Designing experiments to simulate real world operating conditions.

    • Assessing the performance of parts or systems.

    • Algorithm development.

    • Data analysis.

  • Demonstrate research outcomes both internally to the engineering and products teams and externally in customer facing reports or conference presentations / papers.

  • Deliver organised data and records of all research activities.

  • Support the engineering team in realising products based on research outcomes.

  • Work within engineering teams as required as a sensor technology / performance specialist as a part of the company new product introduction (NPI) process.

  • Work with all company departments to ensure the research programme aligns with the company’s needs:

    • Identify where research effort is best spent.

    • Use judgement based on technology readiness / size of market / cost of development to select the best areas to spend resource on.

    • Agree proposed research programme with the research manager and products team.

  • Identify good industry / research partners to work with.

  • Implement improvement in the research process through measurable performance indicators

Education/Qualifications:

Essential

  • Degree in science/engineering field

Desirable

  • Physics or applied science degree

  • 2:1 or higher

  • Masters or post-grad

Skills/Experience:

Essential 

  • Analogue electronics

  • Software for data analysis (e.g. python pandas numpy or Matlab)

  • Experimental design

  • Capable of security clearance for miltary projects

Desirable 

  • IR gas eletrochemistry

  • Mass Spectrometry

  • 3D mechanical design
