Graduate Facade Engineer

Tyréns AKT Graduate Façade Engineer role supporting the design, analysis and performance assessment of building façades and envelope systems from concept through construction.

As a Graduate Façade Engineer, you will work alongside experienced façade engineers, structural engineers and architects on a diverse range of projects. You will gain experience in the design, analysis and performance of building envelope systems, from concept through to construction.

What will you do?

• Support the design and development of façade and building envelope systems across a range of projects.

• Assist with the technical assessment and design of façade systems, materials and components.

• Develop an understanding of glazing, cladding, curtain walling, rainscreen systems, masonry and other façade technologies.

• Assist with engineering calculations and performance assessments relating to structural, thermal, moisture, acoustic and environmental performance.

• Produce façade drawings, details, specifications and technical documentation.

• Use industry-standard design, analysis and modelling software to support façade design.

• Work closely with architects, structural engineers, contractors, manufacturers and specialist consultants to develop and coordinate façade solutions.

• Attend project meetings, site visits and inspections to develop your understanding of façade construction and installation.

• Develop your knowledge of relevant British Standards, Eurocodes, building regulations and industry guidance.

• Learn from experienced engineers while progressively taking on greater responsibility.

What are we looking for?

• A Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Building Physics or a related discipline.

• Strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills.

• An interest in building façades, materials, building performance and architectural design.

• Good communication and teamwork skills.

• A proactive attitude and enthusiasm for learning.

• Strong attention to detail and an interest in understanding how buildings are designed and constructed.

• Previous placement, internship or relevant engineering experience is desirable but not essential.

• Familiarity with software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper or similar is advantageous.
