About us

Admiral Money is the dynamic lending arm of Admiral Group, offering personal loans, motor finance, and homeowner loans since 2017. We’re building something special for our customers and are looking for curious, driven individuals ready to learn, take on challenges, and make an impact.

We’re proud to be a certified Great Place to Work for over 25 years, with recognition for Women and Wellbeing.

Our inclusive culture empowers everyone to Be You.

The Role

This 12‑month secondment/fixed term contract offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands‑on experience within the Customer Accounts Team. It is designed to support skill development across banking operations, payments, reconciliations, invoicing, and commercial finance insight.

This role is hybrid, with one fixed office day per week (typically Thursday). There may be occasions where additional office days are needed to support business requirements.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting daily banking and payment activities at the heart of the business.

  • Assisting with bank reconciliation processes and learning how payments flow through our systems.

  • Working on BACS, suspense queues, DCA posting, and wider payment operations.

  • Managing and supporting the invoice and purchase order process.

  • Gaining exposure to how financial performance links to operational processes, including Bottom Line Reporting.

  • Liaising with internal teams to ensure accurate payment and invoice information is shared and actioned.

  • Supporting write‑offs, suspense investigations, and resolving payment‑related queries.

  • Identifying opportunities to streamline processes and suggesting improvements.

Who This Opportunity Is Perfect For

This secondment is ideal for individuals who already have some grounding in payments, invoicing, or banking operations and are looking to broaden their experience, take on more responsibility, or deepen their understanding of financial processes within Admiral Money.

It is also well suited to recent graduates with an interest in finance, business operations, or data, who are eager to gain practical, hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced financial environment. If you’re early in your career and looking for an opportunity to apply your academic knowledge, develop technical skills, and understand how money flows through a business end‑to‑end, this role provides a supportive environment to learn and grow.

This Role Gives You the Chance To

  • Build on existing operational finance skills.

  • Develop a deeper understanding of how Admiral Money’s systems, teams, and financial processes work together.

  • Strengthen technical confidence across payments, reconciliations, purchase orders, and reporting.

  • Work closely with the wider Finance team and become a go‑to contact for queries.

  • Learn the “why” behind the numbers and how they influence business decisions.

Essential Criteria:

  • Previous experience in a payments, invoicing, or finance administration role, OR currently studying towards a recognised finance qualification (e.g., AAT Level 2 or above), with the ability to demonstrate accurate work with numerical or financial data through previous employment or academic study.

  • A keen interest in finance, numbers, or business processes.

  • Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills.

  • A proactive approach, with confidence to ask questions and collaborate with others.

  • Willingness to learn - full training will be provided.

  • Familiarity with Pan front and back office systems (Desirable).
