An entry-level Environmental Consultancy role at Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS Enterprise) supporting marine environmental modelling (NewDEPOMOD), software development, fieldwork, and project delivery for marine and coastal projects.The RoleThis role is to provide environmental consultancy support within the SAMS Enterprise delivery team. Responsibilities will include delivering a range of consultancy contracts with a focus on NewDEPOMOD modelling projects, supporting software development, validation, and testing, conducting fieldwork, providing customer account support, identifying new opportunities, and assisting with project management tasks.'It is an entry-level position reporting to assist in the delivery of enterprise projects, ensuring projects are delivered safely to time, cost and quality as per the agreed contractual requirements and to ISO9001 standard. There will be opportunities to develop your account management skills to identify potential commercial and marketing opportunities to support growth of the business. Our Ideal CandidateWill have a degree in appropriate marine / environmental science background, or software engineering and modelling.  You will enjoy managing a varied workload with changing priorities and be able to work effectively whilst building relationships with others. Ideally you will have experience with the following IT skills and software development capabilities:Use of a variety of programming languages. (eg Python, Java, PHP, JavaScript, bash)Knowledge of databases and SQL (e.g. Mysql)Use of version control and project management/bug-tracking tools (eg Git, JIRA, Gitlab)Familiarity with various IDEs (integrated development environments-eg Eclipse, Pycharm, PhpStorm, Netbeans)Use of operating systems including some scripting (eg Windows, Linux)Use of environmental modelling and GIS tools (eg NewDEPOMOD, QGIS)Employee BenefitsOur relatively small, caring community is an ideal environment for making friends, forming collaborations, and supporting each other to do the work that we really care about.
