This entry-level built environment consultancy graduate scheme trains RICS-accredited building surveying graduates at Ridge to perform technical defect analysis, execute contract administration, and manage planned preventative maintenance surveys for commercial and residential portfolios.Your opportunityWith one of the largest teams of Chartered Surveyors in the property sector, located in regional offices across the UK, Ridge and Partners has the depth and breadth of experience, expertise and local knowledge to support clients at every stage of property investment, ownership and occupation, from acquisition through to disposal.Due to continued growth and success, we are looking to recruit a talented Graduate Building Surveyor with at least one year’s relevant experience to join our dynamic Building Surveying team in Liverpool. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious surveyor to develop broad commercial building surveying experience while also gaining exposure to specialist dilapidations work within a growing national service line.As a Graduate Building Surveyor at Ridge, you will gain hands-on experience across a wide range of professional and project-related instructions. Our work spans a variety of sectors, including commercial, industrial, education, residential, local authority and investor-led portfolios. You will be involved in services such as:Planned Preventative Maintenance surveysPre-acquisition building surveys and technical due diligenceCondition surveys and schedules of conditionSchedules of dilapidations and lease-end adviceReinstatement cost assessmentsDefect analysis and reportingSpecification writing, tendering and contract administrationProject delivery, refurbishment and repair worksYou will also work with an impressive client base, including major retailers, local authorities, universities, colleges, property investors, landlords and occupiers.This is a fantastic opportunity to build on your early experience in a supportive and ambitious environment, working alongside experienced Chartered Building Surveyors and contributing to meaningful projects and client instructions from day one.What you need to do to be effective in this role Support the team on contract administration instructions through the attendance of meetings, writing of specifications, procurement of competitive tenders, preparation of contract documents and undertaking of progress inspections. Assist with the undertaking of building surveys, particularly the ability to record relevant information from site inspections and ability to summarise findings in a concise manner. Support the Building Surveying team on complex multi-disciplinary schemes. Help with analysing and reporting on building defects. Support the Building Surveyors with preparing schedules of dilapidations and negotiation of settlements. Assist with the supervision of building work on site. Assisting the Building Surveyors with providing advice on the design, construction, maintenance, repair and refurbishment of all types of residential and commercial property. Carry out building, condition and measured surveys.The skills and experience you need to have for this role: You hold a bachelor’s degree at 2:1 or above – RICS approved You have the Right to Work in the UK, without requiring visa sponsorship You are passionate about our industry – this is really important – we love what we do and see that the built environment plays a critical role in society, so we want people who feel the same. You are curious, and eager to learn – our team of existing Building Surveying experts, who you can learn so much from.
