A 12-month AI-focused IT internship at MetLife supporting the development, testing, and deployment of enterprise AI solutions while gaining hands-on experience with modern AI tools and systems integration.The Opportunity MetLife UK is expanding how we use Artificial Intelligence to support our customers, colleagues, and business operations. We are looking for an early career IT Intern (12-month fixed term contract) to support the delivery of AI enabled solutions, ranging from Microsoft Copilot and agentic AI through to the enterprise IT foundations required for more complex, scalable solutions. This role is ideal for someone at the start of their technology career who is curious about AI, enjoys learning how systems fit together, and wants hands on experience working on real production solutions rather than isolated experiments. You will work alongside experienced IT, data, and business colleagues, gaining exposure to both modern AI tooling and the core IT disciplines that make enterprise grade AI possible. Key Responsibilities Support the design, build, and testing of AI enabled solutions across MetLife UK, including: Agentic AI and workflow automationProductivity and business process enhancements Assist with the technical components that underpin enterprise AI solutions, such as: Integrations with existing systems and data sourcesIdentity, access, and security considerationsEnvironments, configuration, and deployment supportWork with senior engineers and architects to understand how AI solutions scale from proof of concept to enterprise-ready services Help document solution designs, technical decisions, and operational considerations in line with internal governance and regulatory expectations Participate in testing, issue investigation, and continuous improvement of AI tools already in use Learn how AI is applied responsibly and safely in a regulated insurance environment, including data protection, risk, and control considerations Collaborate with colleagues across IT, data, and the business to translate real operational needs into technical solutions Required Qualifications Completed a Science based Bachelor’s degree such as Computer Science, or related discipline (we will give preference to students academically involved in computer science, information technology, information systems, computer engineering, mathematics)Comfortable using Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint)Strong written communication skills, you will write prompts, instructions, and documentation every dayLogical, structured thinking, able to break a process into steps and spot where automation could helpAble to commit to a 12‑month Internship (with potential for extension or graduate opportunities) Preferred Qualifications Strong technical curiosity and entrepreneurial mindsetExcellent problem solving and analysis skillsAbility to work independently as well as in a team environmentRelevant campus involvement, work experience, and/or community service experienceWorking understanding of AI concepts and experience applying productivity tools as part of their day-to-day work to support effective data driven work and delivery effectivenessExperience with Microsoft Copilot Studio or Power PlatformFamiliarity with Claude, ChatGPT, or any prompt engineering practiceBasic understanding of how APIs or integrations workExperience in insurance, financial services, or a regulated industryBenefits We OfferMetLife UK offers a range of benefits to deliver value to our employees and their families, supporting their health, wellbeing and financial security.
