Support the design, testing, integration, and deployment of advanced radar systems while collaborating with customers and engineering teams on defence and surveillance projects.About the role: Blighter Surveillance Systems is looking to recruit a Project Engineer to help deliver and develop Blighter radar systems and projects. Responsibilities of the role include; System-level design, architecture, and specification of systems and installations using Blighter Radars. Working with both our sales team and customers to establish and develop their requirements. Delivering customer demonstrations & training. Planning & overseeing radar test and development trials. Working with the support team to deliver completed solutions and systems. Supporting existing & future systems by working hands-on with Blighter radars as required. The role is based at our main office but will sometimes require visits to supplier and customer locations both in the UK (4-5 times/year) and overseas (2-3 times/year). The engineering team at Blighter is small and flexible. We are looking for someone capable of working on their own initiative, but who also appreciates the vital importance of collaborating and communicating effectively with other engineers and end users. In-depth knowledge of radars is not required – training on Blighter radars and systems will be provided, with many opportunities for hands-on experience.  You will have the following skills and abilities: A demonstrable ability to design, develop, analyse, and think at a system level. Experience working with formal system requirements. An appreciation of multiple engineering disciplines. Experience in a customer-facing role. The ability to create and maintain system diagrams and documentation. Experience installing and configuring software on Windows-based computers. Computer networking (at intermediate level or above). A practical and hands-on approach. Excellent written and spoken communication skills.You will have the following background and experience: Degree-level education in an applicable engineering discipline, e.g.; Electrical or Electronic Engineering Software Engineering/Computer Science  Mechanical Engineering Aerospace Engineering Robotics/Mechatronics Engineering 2Y+ experience in security, defence, or other mixed-discipline high-tech industryThe following skill & experience would be beneficial, but not required: Experience of radar systems. Industrial experience from an aerospace systems, sensors, or ISTAR/C4ISR/ESM domain. The ability to understand (and perhaps design) simple electronics. The ability to write simple software from scratch (e.g. python scripts) or amend or tweak more complex softwareRecent graduates who have completed a sandwich course, year in industry, or with other significant relevant working experience will also be considered. The requirement for occasional travel means that a driver’s licence will be considered beneficial. About Blighter: BSS is a UK-based electronic-scanning radar and sensor solution provider delivering an integrated multi-sensor package to systems integrators comprising Blighter electronic-scanning radars, cameras, thermal imagers, trackers and software solutions.  Blighter Surveillance Systems (BSS) is looking to increase its in-house design and development team in support of new product developments and enhancements.
