Support global product compliance and regulatory activities for sustainable packaging materials while developing expertise in regulatory affairs within a manufacturing environment.An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Regulatory Affairs team at Futamura, Wigton.Futamura is a major global manufacturer of sustainable, plant-based cellulose films, including the renowned NatureFlex™ compostable films. We process responsibly sourced wood pulp into sustainable flexible packaging and labelling solutions used by leading brands around the world.About the roleThis is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or someone at the beginning of their career who is looking to develop their expertise in Regulatory Affairs within an innovative manufacturing business.As a Regulatory Affairs Scientist, you will work closely with experienced colleagues to help ensure our products comply with relevant global regulations. You will gain exposure to a wide range of regulatory activities while building your technical knowledge and developing your career in a supportive environment.Full training and ongoing development will be provided for the right candidate.Key responsibilitiesIn this role, you will:Support activities to help ensure company products comply with applicable global regulatory requirements.Assist in providing customers with regulatory information and assurance relating to product compliance.Help develop and maintain regulatory systems, processes and documentation to support product compliance.Read and interpret legislation, guidance and industry standards, helping to communicate regulatory requirements and their impact across the business.Work collaboratively with teams across R&D, Sales & Marketing, Production and Procurement to support product compliance, innovation and customer requirements.Contribute to regulatory projects relating to food contact materials, packaging legislation and product compliance, supporting technical assessments where required.Keep up to date with changes in legislation and support continuous improvement activities within the Regulatory Affairs function.About youWe are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, curious and keen to learn. You may be a recent graduate or have some relevant industrial experience through placements, internships or an early career role.You will ideally have:A degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Polymer Science or another relevant scientific discipline.A genuine interest in regulatory affairs, product compliance and sustainability.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.The ability to understand and interpret technical information.Good organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.A proactive approach, with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.The ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.The following would be advantageous but are not essential, as training will be provided:Experience gained through an industrial placement, internship or previous role within manufacturing or a scientific environment.Knowledge of food contact regulations, packaging legislation, REACH or similar regulatory frameworks.Experience of continuous improvement or project work.What are we offering?In return we offer a competitive salary, bonus scheme, 25 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays, Defined Contribution pension scheme, Life Assurance cover, Employee Assistance Program, Flexible Working (hybrid working considered) a Wellbeing Day, Health cash back plan and private medical and the opportunity to grow and progress your career in a supportive and dynamic environment.
